Essentially, it’s a process of narrowing down your audience based on their net worth. By focusing on this select group of potential customers, you can drive traffic to your site or store, which, in return, may generate higher revenue.

As marketers had more access to consumer data and began to realize the opportunity in segmenting audiences based on various factors, they learned they could leverage customer wealth information for more targeted campaigns. Wealth Targeting became a key strategy for many businesses, especially luxury brands, because it allowed them to connect directly with their preferred customer base: those with the means to pay for their offerings.

  • Income Targeting: This is similar to Wealth Targeting, but it focuses on a person's income level rather than their net worth.
  • Niche Marketing: A strategy whereby a product or service is targeted towards a specific, often small and identifiable, group of customers. While this can include Wealth Targeting, it can also relate to various other customer traits.
  • Demographic Targeting: This is the process of segmenting your audience based on their demographic information such as age, gender, location, education, and occupation.
  • Psychographic Targeting: This marketing strategy focuses on consumers' interests, activities, and lifestyle to better tailor their advertising and promotional content.
