Foundations for Literacy

In an effort to help schools obtain Reader’s Theater materials that will build reading fluency, we have created this resource page to direct schools to Foundations, Corporations and other Grant-making bodies who sponsor literacy and education. This list will be continually updated as we research new potential sources of funding. As you review the list below, please note that some foundations donate to certain geographic areas and others have very specific criteria; there are however, several that support a wide range of areas.

Check with your community partners first! Most schools have community or business partners that help them fund needs ranging from erasers to computers. These organizations or local foundations are eager to support literacy and reading and may take their support one step further if asked directly by a teacher with passion for reading. Check with your principal to obtain a list of your school’s partners.
