Reader's Theater Exercise 19:
Attention: Teachers! Have Your Students
Make Their Own Summer Fun Tote Bags!

Last month's Reader's Theater Exercise focused on helping your students recognize and and properly express character emotion when reading a story. This month's activity is for teachers and students to prepare for summer reading! All students are vulnerable to significant learning loss during breaks from school, so help avoid this setback by providing reading practice for your students during the summer.

Low on funds? Instead of buying Summer Fun Tote Bags in vinyl bags with bound stories, purchase download print Playbook® stories to give a copy to each student in your class. Print stories in this format from your own computer on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.

Parent Guide and Recommended Reader Assignment Guide are included in the document, and Supplemental Activities can be printed for free from our website. Next, have your students decorate paper grocery bags if desired and send the students home with the printed stories in the bags for summer learning!
