New Story Combining Science and Health in a Fun Experiment!
Healthy eating is a hot topic these days, for kids as well as adults. Fabulous Food Detectives is a new story that teaches this concept in a fun and creative way, and really gets kids thinking about what they are eating. The story centers around a family in which the father is a TV chef who focuses on healthy, whole foods. His children love science experiments and solving problems. They invent a robot dog for a school science fair that can “taste” foods and list the ingredients of each food it tastes … but there is a twist. Strangely, the robot becomes highly agitated when confronted with foods that include strange ingredients such as pesticides or artificial preservatives. The only way to make the dog calm down is to present it with something completely natural, such as an apple that truly is only an apple. As the kids and their classmates present foods to the dog, readers learn about unhealthy extra ingredients that are added to our foods and how to watch out for them. The story is humorous as the dog frantically recites the absurd list of extras often found in manufactured foods, which we may not even be aware of! Fabulous Food Detectives is an informative and entertaining story, and provides not only enjoyable reading, but shows kids the value of paying attention to what is actually in the food they are eating. |
