Playbooks, Inc. to Hold Reader’s Theater Workshop at the National Catholic Educational Association Convention & Expo in Minneapolis, MN.

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (April 1, 2010)   The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is holding its 107th Annual Convention & Expo April 5-8 in Minneapolis, and Playbooks® Reader’s Theater will be there! Playbooks® will be one of the 8,000 exhibitors and educators gathering to share valuable resources. The convention provides professional development sessions, inspiring liturgies, and networking opportunities for administrators, principals, teachers, parents, directors of religious education, and pastors. The exposition is an integral part of the convention, featuring the latest and greatest in educational resources and equipment.

The NCEA is a professional membership organization that provides leadership, direction and service to fulfill the teaching mission. NCEA members include elementary schools, high schools, parish religious education programs, and seminaries.
With its continued dedication to building character and integrity while improving reading fluency for millions of students across the nation, Playbooks® is offering its popular Reader’s Theater implementation workshop free at the conference. The workshop has consistently been highly rated at other educational conferences across the nation and is a learning opportunity that Convention attendees will not want to miss.

Playbooks® Reader’s Theater stories are written like plays but with no memorization, props, costumes, or stage needed.  Reader’s Theater is a form of “Repeated Guided Oral Reading,” the best proven method of building reading fluency. The books come in a unique, patented format, with each story role targeting a specific reading level so that students of various ages can read the same story together, gaining the benefits of reading role models. Each character’s dialogue also appears in a different color so that each student can easily follow along, assess role size, and gain a feeling of ownership of his or her role.
