Lights on Afterschool - October 22, 2009

On October 22nd 2009 - Teachers, political officials, families and children will gather for the 10th anniversary celebration of the Afterschool Alliances’ Lights on Afterschool. This nationwide rally for afterschool programs includes over 7,500 events across the country that will take place in schools, parks and military bases. Since we serve a great number of afterschool programs and believe ALL after programs are valuable, we are thrilled to be joining in the efforts of shining on the importance of keeping children involved in positive learning experiences after the school day ends. Playbooks® Reader’s Theater has helped millions of students build reading fluency and confidence across the country. And this year, with joining the Lights on Afterschool efforts, we are happy to announce that we will be offering two exciting give-aways.

One lucky after school program will be chosen in the Southern California area to receive a FREE BOOK SIGNING for select age groups. The book signing will feature Playbook® author, Kelli Casas, who has written the popular stories A Tumblestone Tune, and an adaptation of the classic Stone Soup. Students will get to meet and greet with the author and each will receive a free signed copy of one of the books.

A second give-away will allow one afterschool program (and all its affiliated sites) to download any one of our stories, for free, for use with all their students! This gives them the opportunity to use our multi-leveled and color-coded Playbooks® Reader’s Theater books which are proven to increase reading fluency, comprehension and reader confidence!

For a school to be selected for the Free Book Signing or Free Downloadable Print Story - they must email us at info@playbooks.com. They must include Light on Afterschool Entry in the subject line of the email to be entered and only one entry will be considered per school/program.
